Since we opened on the streets of Benidorm, we have come to realise various things. The first is that many of our patients are people with second residencies in the town but who originate from the north of Spain. Leon, Burgos, Vitoria, Madrid, Toledo. People from the north of Spain who have ‘fled’ from the cold and who say that here, there is life all year round and not only in the summer. They say that in the winter in their towns it is too cold and here they are always out on the street or even on the beach. In summer, they return to their towns of origin because it is too hot (it’s very humid even though the temperature may be less than Valladolid for example).

After this we have started to attend to people who have come to Benidorm from the United Kingdom for example. They come in asking prices. They have been looking for surgery or a treatment for a long time in their country. They are here and they come in to ask. They see us and get to know us. Then they return to their country. Once there, they think about it and decide to have the operation with us in Alicante or in Benidorm.

Various things attract them. One is the price. It is true that excluding London which is very expensive in all aspects, in the rest of the country the cost of a surgery is more or less the same. But remember that the hospitals in our country are marvellous whether public or private. Additionally, being in the European Union also helps, with the juridical security this implies. It helps a lot as the costs of flights and accommodation are very low, meaning that the recuperation can be done whilst enjoying holidays in the sun, with good climate, good food and of course, good prices. For the same price, they can be on holiday too.

We cannot compete in price with countries that are in the path of development such as Turkey, Tunisia, Egypt, but we can in the quality of the training of our doctors and the quality of assistance. People see this and they want it.
