Fat in plastic surgery is the most useful tissue that we have- Its tremendously versatile. It can be taken from any area where its extra and placed wherever its needed.
The first thing to be done is to extract it. Its usually taken from the abdomen, the hips, the thighs or the knees. Any area where its excess and it can be useful. Once extracted with liposuction (With low pressure so that the insert is as smooth as possible so as to “pamper” the fat). It then needs to be treated, to leave it as clean as possible, removing all of the dead cells, the oils that are generated upon extraction, the blood, the plasma etc etc. We must remove everything that is not pure fat. This is done by cleaning and settling, which is, to leave to settle so that the distinct densities do their work and we can retain only the good fat. Once the fat is processed, we can then use it.
Its important to say at this moment, that many patients, who have a consultation about liposuction, can be proposed to not throw the fat away. As it has been extracted, the only thing left to do is use it for our benefit.
On your face, for example, the fat has been seen to rejuvenate the skin, give volume to cheeks, improve the aspect of the eyelids. Its practically an obligatory use for facial rejuvenation, in a stretching of the face, for example.
On your body, it has a very extensive use, but its máximum exponent is in gluteo filler. Its here where the fat has an important effect. With liposuction we extract what is excess on the hips or lower back and once removed we fill the gluteo area with this fat, to give more volume, more projection, more roundness. Its an area where the results are excellent because the liposuction not only improves the contour, but also makes the gluteos more beautiful.
And on the breasts. Here it is fantastic. For patients who have tuberous breasts, or who have had previous surgeries, patients with wrinkes from the implants, patients who want a bigger cleavage or to give volume on a breast lift. The fat here, is tremendously useful and versatile.

During the intervention of fat filling, the first thing to determine are the areas where we will extract the fat. Usually on the knees, inside of the thighs, the abdomen, back etc. Its important to know how much fat we need, to have a sufficient graft for the receptive area. Once everything is calculated, the areas are marked and a liposuction with low pressure is done so that the fat is the most feasible as possible. After the extraction, cleansed and settled, the pure fat is passed to syringes to be able to introduce in the foreseen areas.
Any surgical intervention has risks. Our surgeons will explain to each patient in their case, but at this moment with the technology and techniques applied, the lipofilling is a routine surgery with very few incidents of complications. The realisation of a surgery with official titled plastic surgeons with decades of experience and hundreds of surgeries completed, the realisation of the surgery being carried out in a first level prívate hospital. The use of medication to avoid infections for example, means that the only complications are usually; slight bruising, parcial numbness to certain areas of the skin, the uncomfortableness of the support girth that needs to be worn after surgery or swelling. You can always ask your plastic surgeon any questions at any time and our surgeons will be happy to resolve any doubts that may arise.
The results of lipofilling can be seen after four weeks. In this time we can see how much of thevolume infiltrated, has settled. In the donating areas, its like a liposuction and they will need a couple more months to see results.
You shouldnt do any kind of sport for the first month, the mínimum time necessary for your body to scar and heal well. If you do intense sports, its better to wait a month longer.
We recommend a compressive corset after surgery. This improves the result and reduces complications such as a seroma.
In general we recommend that any surgical intervention be done from 18 years of age.
The scars from lipofilling are practically invisible.

The lipofilling is a surgery performed under general anesthetic, and requires a one nights stay in the hospital, if recommended by your plastic surgeon.. You will be given your room upon arrival and then be taken to the operating theatre, where our doctors will see you and answer any last minute questions. You will meet the rest of the operating team, nurses, helpers etc. A video and photographs will be taken, so as to have the before surgery images. They will also mark the areas to be treated. They will explain again where the incisions will take place. The incisions will be done in the folds of the areas to be treated, so as to be as invisible as possible.The fat will be extracted with utmost care to be processed, before introducing once again in the receptive areas. The wounds are closed with absorbable stitches which dont need to be removed and a corset fitted whilst in the operating theatre. Then you will be taken to your room, where you will stay for 24 hours.
You will be accompanied by our team at all times during your recuperation. You will be fitted with a corset which needs to be worn for various weeks. (which you can wash and change). You will take antibiotics and pain killers, if you claim to have them. Its normal that you may have some bruising, which will disappear bit by bit, with the recommendations that we will give. You should walk about at home and drink lots of water and eat healthily. Our surgeons will let you know when you can return to work. Also, when you can begin to exercise or drive. Its best that you dont drink alcohol nor smoke during a few weeks post surgery, as tobacco slows the healing process. The bruises and swelling, will ease and after a few weeks you will see the results.
All of the revisions until given the all clear are included in the quote given. The patients have their first revisión 48-72 hrs after having left the hospital. The next visit is one week after surgery, then at 2 weeks, one month, 3 months and six months, plus any other time needed until given the all clear. All of the check ups and cures are done by our plastic surgeons. Dedicating all of the time necessary to make you feel looked after and guided at all times. You will be given a telephone number to be able to contact us at any time whenever you need us, also in English. In the case that the patient is from a foreign country, the frequency of the check ups, are exactly the same, but obviously needed to be done telematically.
