Guess if it’s anatomical or round

The result between using a round prosthesis or an anatomical one greatly depends on many factors. In first place the volume. The more volume the clearer the difference. But also on the type of chest the patient has before the surgery, of the distensibility of the tissues, of the time that has passed since the surgery and therefore the moment of the evaluation, of the projection of the implants and therefore their relation with their height. These are some, but there are many more.

But as far as we can understand, generally, anatomical prosthesis usually give a more natural result. Round prosthesis are generally fuller in the superior pole and therefore give a more operated appearance, a more push-up effect without the push-up bra.

This is the only aesthetic difference. The rest of the parameters are fairly similar when referring to discomfort, post operatory, long term results, duration of the surgical intervention.

It has always been said that the anatomical prosthesis are more difficult to place or can rotate more. I personally, in my clinical practice, have never known them to be more difficult to work with or that they rotate more, but this is only my experience it doesn’t have to be everyone’s.

Here are some profile photos. The profile photo is where I believe you can easily see the differences. You will see that one is with a round prosthesis and the other with an anatomical one.
