Otoplasty with classical techniques

We present you with a case where the patient had two typical things that needed to be improved with an otoplasty.

In the first case, the ears are seperated. In the photo taken from behind you can see perfectly. This is the shell (the part of the ear nearest to the inner ear) that is very seperated from the bone. Through distinct causes when the ear is forming, this structure is disengaged from the position where it shoud be, more joined to the bone which is called Mastoid.

Also, if you take a good look, there is also a fold called Antihelix (like a fold that runs from top to bottom of the ear) which is not completely formed. There is a part missing.

This is what we correct. There are so many distinct techniques, but we use two. The so-called Fumas and the Mustardé. They are classical techniques. They are the most employed and also the most reliable. I would say that they are less traumatic than others and I learnt this from my friend Dr. Novo, who I will never forget, the day he showed me how do this over 20 years ago in the General Hospital of Alicante.
