Breast elevation with auto prosthesis

When we consider having a breast elevation, we can do it very basically and reducing the matter greatly to a breast elevation with or without implants. Generally, we use an implant in those patients who desire a breast elevation with more volume for whichever reason. And we consider a breast elevation without implants to those patients who do not want more volume or that we simply know that due to the situation and the structures, them as patients or their breasts would not accept an implant.

It is important to know when you use and implant, you are adding weight to tissues that possibly could not be capable of supporting this added weight, so much so that in a short time, the breasts which have been elevated, will fall once more. Not due to the technique but because you shouldn’t have increased the weight. Additionally, you must also take into account the added cost over time because of replacements and revisions of those implants, but that’s another matter.

In the patients in which a breast elevation without implant is not indicated, to obtain a good result what we do is use their tissue and reposition them. This way what we do is take a large piece of glandular tissue and suture it to the muscle (this is the auto prosthesis) as high as we can. With the remainder, we suture it onto itself to give support to what we have elevated. We then remove the excess skin.

Although it does not give us the volume of an implant, in these cases the result is very good without it, in such a way that the patient remains completely satisfied with the aesthetic result.
