Mammary Surgery for a High Performance Athletes

About 15-20 years ago, female sports, were something a lot less frecuent than now. The body culture, the need to feel physically fit, leads to being
exercised. Sports have become very popular, within women, that imply great
strengths, such as moving heavy weights, like in Crossfit, or even weightlifting.

The tecnique that is carried out most in our clinic, in terms of mammary
surgery, whichever it may be, tends to imply the use of the pectoral muscle as a cover to the implant. I think that this has many more benefits than drawbacks, although it is true that for certain patients this may not be suitable, as for athletic patients of a high or very high performance.

Patients who compete, patients who train 5 or 6 times a week, in high density sports, the integrity of the pectoral muscle is something that may need to be preserved. It is true that i must explain well the implications of an implant put over the muscle, but i think that it would be more beneficial than harmful for these patients.

This is the case of a patient who received implants under the fascia of the
larger pectoral (a tissue that covers over the muscle). Very early recuperation, lack of or near lack of pain and no alteration to the sports performance of the patient.
