Nose surgery

The Rhinoplasty or the nose surgery is not a universal process for everyone. The art of the nasal surgery depends on the ability to recognise the subtle contours of the face, so that the process becomes harmonious and natural. As it is one of the most individual characteristics of your face, subtle changes in the appearance of your nose can bring drastic differences to your appearance. Many modifications can be done to change the shape of your nose, but it is more important to modify it in a natural way, so that it adapts to your face.
There exists another important aspect in the surgery of the nose: The respiratory system must optimise to correct the diverted septum (nostril) or another nasal obstruction. Our qualified plastic surgeons will evaluate your respiratory system and will improve your nose both inside and out.

Frequent questions

Nose surgery allows you to reincorporate quickly to work. All patients have to wear a splint (a small cast) on the nose which is obviously visible. This makes many patients prefer to return to work when this has been removed, which is on the 10th day. But generally, in two or three days you can return to work, always avoiding any bumps no matter how small, on the nose. Logically depending on the type of work of the patient. It is important to avoid situations of stress after the surgery as this increases the possibility of bleeding. If you work in front of a computer for many hours, with seven days “holidays” is usually sufficient. On many occasions after three of four days you can work.

When we have removed the splint. You have to wear sun protection on the nose. If you have bruising it is better to wait until it has disappeared.

You can exercise one month after the intervention. Avoid any type of contact sport where you could get hit in the nose for three months.

Immediately, as long as you avoid wetting the splint.

We recommend that you sleep face up after the surgery for a few days.

Even though many people think that a surgery of the nose is very painful, it isn’t. Most patients don’t suffer any pain at all. You will be uncomfortable because of the splint. After the surgery you will be irritable. It won’t be pain, just discomfort. You will take medication for the pain which means that you will have more irritation at bed time, from the antibiotic etc. more than the pain, which will provoke discomfort.

The scars form a Rhinoplasty are usually inside the holes of the ears so they cannot be seen. A small incision of about 3mm is also made in the columella which rapidly becomes imperceptible.

You should avoid taking aspirin or any other medication which provokes anticoagulation. Let us know if you usually take vitamin supplements or medicinal plants. Some make the blood coagulate more slowly.

It is very recommendable to put something cold on the nose and the area of the eyelids during the first few days.

Generally, we recommend any surgical intervention from 18 years old.
