The loss of a lot or a huge amount of weight, means, apart from being a few

sizes smaller, there will be a lot of excess skin. This happens in the abdomen, the thighs, the chest etc etc. In all of the body really in more or less proportions.

This is the case of an abdominoplasty in a patient with a large weight loss. For this type of patient, its a classical plan, an abdominoplasty with an anchor-shaped scar, so in a vertical line in the middle of the abdomen which continues in a horizontal line below where your underwear would be. Its like this, so to achieve removing the skin the best way possible, but the scar is left from top to bottom of the abdomen. This patient did not want the vertical abdomen scar.

She wanted to be able to wear a bikini without any visible signs “an ugly scar in the middle of my belly”.

The solution, try to remove the most we can, leaving the scar as low as possible so that the underwear would hide it. And thats what we did.
