Why an implant is sometimes not the best solution?

There are certain popular cultures which make you think that if you want to have a breastoperation you are given implants. That everything can be solved with an implant. By inserting an implant the breasts are elevated. The patient believes that by having implants their breasts will be firmer. By having implants I will have the chest I had when I was young, or so the patient thinks. By having implants my chest will not fall again, or so the patient hopes. That the implant will be everything this type of patient wants. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I am going to number many reasons why having implants may not be the best solution. The first is the cost. When a patient has implants inserted in their body they need to know that every so often they have to have an operation to change the implants. This is for certain. Additionally, every two years, or however long the surgeon recommends, they have to have an ultrasound or an MRI, something which is not cheap if it is not covered by a private insurance. Therefore they have to accept costs associated to the implant of at least two more surgeries plus the follow up care, about 5 times per decade.

Another thing is the weight of the implant. A weight that due to gravity, puts pressure on the tissues in such a way that the results of an elevation, in some patients, lasts less than without this associated weight. The lighter and more lightweight a breast is, the less it will fall. A small chest will take longer to fall whilst a very large chest is already fallen even before reaching the age of 25. This effect is especially accentuated in patients who have a chest which is very striated, who have had a prolonged lactation and that have large implants.

The use of implants is not something that can be done just because you feel like it. They are used when they should be used and not for indulgence. If you have fallen breasts but with sufficient volume implants are not necessary. Speak to your surgeon regarding the options you have. This way with all of the information, you can freely choose knowing at all times what can be achieved with each option. Only this way will you get it right.
