Relationship between car sales and surgical operations

I would like to speak to you today about this. I’m going to tell you something I have been recently observing or noticing in my workplace.

I will explain. The automobile market for private buyers is a market in which clients invest a lot of money and usually finance. Once, I was able to read, that more than half of the cars bought in Spain are financed. And this is because the consumer has the confidence of being able to pay. Bringing future income to the present, at a higher cost, with interest, in order to possess the asset with the faith that he will be able to pay for it because his work will not let him down, he will not become ill and will be able to affront the payments. Faith in the present and above all in the future.

With luxury assets the exact same thing happens. The client requests finance because he thinks that he will be able to pay and also allows himself to spend without uncertainty, meaning that he believes that the cost of this product will not mean that he won’t be able to eat, pay the rent or the children’s school, which are the truly important things. Cars and luxury go hand in hand. And we are a luxury item. No one worries about wrinkles if they cannot pay the rent.

I haven’t spoken to my other colleagues about this, but I have been able to see a relation, not scientifically proven, that when the registrations of cars go up, I have an influx of patients, more treatments and more conversations regarding first visits in surgery. There is generally more happiness in the economy. I see restaurants that are fuller, more people with shopping bags, and more movement of people.

Up until now this has happened. But recently it doesn’t. This is because we continue to have an important growth which has been happening over the past few years in the sector of Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Medicine but the Automobile sector has not. More uncertainty exists in the car industry than in any other market of industry. Electrification which never comes, the veto of diesel which is impossible and unnecessary, politicians who in the best case scenario have not thought before speaking, increase in car tax and petrol etc., etc.

Leave me your comments. Does this connection exist in your work? Do you have any other reference in your sector?
