I can’t go on. Remove the implants

Currently, thousands of patients in our country, have breast implants. Many cases are for reconstruction purposes after a mastectomy due to breast cancer. Many others are to compensate an asymmetry. Many others because of a lack of breast volume due to the lack of breast development. Others for congenital deformities of the breasts. The least, although people think otherwise, for pleasure.

A few years ago, and within a specific public, people sought a breast volume with a tendency to be large. Big for that patient. Very thin women, many athletes, with large breasts.

But the passing of time is inevitable. And with the passing of time comes ageing. And with ageing the sagging of breasts. One after the other. And those patients, once young patients with large breasts are now 50-60 years old. They have had children. They have gained weight.
So they come to the consultation. Some with broken implants. Others with breasts that weigh an enormous amount. Others with implant contractures. Others with very fallen breasts. With never-ending problems. And I say the same to all of them. Have you thought of having the implants removed?

I ask this question as it is important for them to think about. The easiest and clearest option has the following reasoning “If I have implants and they need changing, then I’ll change them. Additionally if my chest has sagged, I will elevate it”. Up to here everything is fine. But we have to take a step further.

We know that implants have a limited duration (it is not true that they last forever, I say this for those people who write this on the internet or say it or hear it in the consultations). Therefore we know that a patient who is 60, when she reaches 80 or 85, could need a surgical intervention because of her implants. And this question is obligatory; will I be in a condition to sustain a new intervention in the future?

You have to think about this. If you have doubts, an explant is an interesting option. And if you need an elevation, an explant with elevation.
