Breast reduction. The growing surgery

The beauty of the breast is determined by several factors. One is the shape, another the height of the areola, another is the volume, and all of this, with respect to the height, weight, width of thorax, hips and shoulders, of the patient.

With age, we gain weight. Studies say that we lose half a kilo of muscle mass per decade and being overweight is the usual tonic in those over 60 years of age. This translates into women who after menopause gain weight, exercise less, retire, move less and their breasts inevitably also increase in size, if they were not already large before.

Breast reduction surgery has only one drawback. Scars. We cannot remove excess weight, tissue, and the skin that covers it, without making incisions and therefore scars. And although with the Urgotouch laser the result is excellent, they will always be there.

And how much volume should we remove? Well, the important thing is not so much what you take away, but what you leave behind. That is, how much volume do you have to leave so that the patient feels the improvement in the aesthetic aspect and of the weight to bear on the shoulders. Well, we know by talking to the patient and understanding her. But one thing I have learned, patients who have always had large breasts, if left too small, are not satisfied.

You have to leave the volume that meets their expectations. So they feel like they have a much smaller chest. That the weight that you leave, does not bother them in the neck area or in the strap of the bra on the shoulders. That “normal” bras can be bought. And that more “common” clothes can finally be bought.

I recently did an elevation reduction. The result is seen after a month.
